Our wedding decoration

 Here are the decorations from our wedding. I did so many things in order to make our wedding as personal as possible. It all turned out amazingly and I was given many compliments. Our guests appreciated the personal touches making them feel special as well.  

 This is a road sign that I made where all the places are indicated where our guests had travelled from to be there for our wedding. 

 The table decorations. The napkin had a champagne coloured ribbon (our colour theme). Fabric flowers, a Protea flower, a pot with grass with the table numbers.

 The cakes and the cake presentation that I came up with myself. The white chocolate of the cakes resembles the bark of the tree stumps. The beautiful seeds that I had collected over some time. The tin cans with babies breath flowers, and also the cake toppers that I had made of us. 

 The headband for the flower girl. 

 The cake toppers that I made of ourselves. They're made out of Polimer clay that are baked in the oven. 

 The ring pillows with the same lace that we also had around the jars on the tables and of the leg band. 

 The hair flowers that both I and the 3 bridesmaids wore on the day. 

 The window on which I wrote the table seating. Each rectangle had the names of a table. 

 Wish tags that were placed in the birds house, which our guests wrote their wishes to us. 

 We put photos of our parents, grandparents and other family members on their wedding days. It was a way to celebrate them and show our respect to them.

 The wedding program fans. On the first page it has the program, second page has the bridal party names, the third page had the text of That's Amore which we sang together with our guests after the ceremony.

The Wedding _ 18 August 2012 _ Lake Garda _ Italy

So after all this planing, the wedding has now taken place!
It was a perfect day and I couldn't have wished for anything more. We all had a great time, filled with lots of love and happiness. Seeing the international guests interact made it all unique. All the decorations fit perfectly together and I am very happy with the overall result. I got many compliments and many that said it was the best wedding they'd ever been to.
I don't have the official photos yet, but here is a little taste of what our wedding looked like.

Here is the first kiss. Uploaded instantly to FB. I was very impressed by the effectiveness there.
I designed the dress myself. 

 At the end of the ceremony we sang That's Amore together with all our friends and relatives. It was a lot of fun and a great way to end the ceremony!

 The table decorations: A terracotta pot with the table numbers and grass growing out of it, a milk bottle vase for the Protea with burlap and lace, a jar with a candle with the same style decoration, as well as a mini-milk bottle with fabric flowers in it.

The restaurant owner thought I had gone completely mad when I told him my idea, but he even asked to keep the logs for further events in the future. I collected these seeds for months before the ceremony, as well as the tins with babies breath flowers in them. I had also made the cake toppers (that were supposed to be kissing).

Wedding Inspiration _DIY flags

 I started making some flags the other day and was overwhelmed by my intelligence! Why hasn't anyone ever thought of this before? Everyone seems to make each single triangle separately, folds the top side and sews it down, threads a string through it to attach all the flags...
BUT there is such an easier way of doing it, and this is where the "geniousness" comes into it.

• Usually fabrics are sold with a width of about 120-140cm. With 1 meter of fabric you can make 6 (SIX) lengths of flags 1,40. That's a total of almost 8,5m of flags with just 1 meter of fabric. How?
• Chose a fabric that you like. Either in one colour, multicoloured, etc. The important thing is that it's a steardy material and that doesn't fray. That way you can also avoid sewing around the edges. 
• Cut the short side of the fabric in 3 parts (this means they will be about 33cm high). 
• Each strip will become 2 lengths of flags...how?
• Start cutting zigzag and make sure you don't cut all the way through, leaving 2-3cm on each edge. This is mainly so you won't risk it ripping. 
• If you want a long length of flags, then simply sew 2 or more 1,40 lengths together. 
• At the end of your length of flags, simply attach a string so that you can hang it up in a tree, tent, room, etc.

There are many things you can do with your flags. Just leave them as they are for a cute decoration at your wedding, party, name-giving, etc. Write text on each triangle like: Love, Love story, Sweets, Mr & Mrs, thank you, etc etc.

Wedding inspiration _ Burlap Ring Pillows

I am very much in love with burlap fabric. It gives a unique vintage rustic look that we are looking to achieve at our wedding. The combination of lace gives it a more elegant look together with silk ribbons in order to tie the rings on the pillow. It's easy to add fabric flowers to your pillow which can even be the part where your rings are tied. They can either be made with the burlap, or another rough fabric. You can also chose to make flowers that follow your general colour theme.
These kind of pillows are so easy to make by yourself! 

This is my personal favourite! I love the combination of  the rustic burlap with the lace, a shiney silk ribbon and the fabric flowers. This is the look I will try to achieve! 

A simple yet beautiful vintage look. 

I like the idea of the pillow in the middle-left that has "grandma's old embroided lace" sewn onto the pillow. Not a bad idea at all. My grandma was very craftey and made many things like this. 

This pillow is very sweet and has a slightly more rustic pillow but then combines the classic elegant flowers, pearls and ribbons to give it that eternal vintage look. 

I love these whimsical felt flowers with buttons in the middle! How cute is that? 

I actually don't mind the way they have sewn this pillow leaving the ends stick out. It's an easy way of doing it and gives it a more rustic feel. 

Another beautiful country vintage feel. The burlap string creates an extra rustic feel. 

The burlap chosen here is a bit more coarse and gives it a whiter look considering that you can see the stuffing inbetween the holes. I adore the little colourful flowers which is a nice way to integrate the colour theme of your wedding even in the ring pillow.
